The battles that count aren't the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself — the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us — that's where it's at.

ARCHIVE: CANDIDATES' FORUM

CANDIDATES' FORUM
Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Lexington Park Library
sponsored by the League of Women Voters of St. Mary's County

A Candidates’ Forum featuring contested offices in the 2010 Primary Election will be held on Monday evening, August 23, at the Lexington Park Library. All local candidates, including those unopposed in the primary election, are invited to “meet and greet” the public and to offer campaign literature in the lobby of the library beginning at 6:00 p.m. The forum will begin at 6:30.

The forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of St. Mary’s County in conjunction with the St. Mary’s County Public Library, will consist of two sessions. The first session will present candidates for the office of County Treasurer on the Democratic ballot, followed by candidates for State Delegate of District 29A on the Republican ballot. After a short break, the forum will continue with candidates on the Republican ballot for County Commissioner President and Commissioner seats for Districts 1 and 2.

The question-and-answer format of the forum provides an opportunity for residents to submit questions to candidates either during the evening’s program or in advance by emailing info@smc.lwvmd.org. The forum will be taped by the St. Mary’s Public Library and will then be placed on the library website www.stmalib.org for access by the public. DVDs of the forum will also be available for check-out at the library branches.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan community-based political organization founded in 1920, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government. Learn more at the website www.smc.lwvmd.org.
